Sick of Brett Favre’s “childlike enthusiasm” and other football observations

Published by Scratch under Season II

Badges TDI am glad Broadway Brett Favre’s great Jets adventure has come to a conclusion. Each year there seems to be one catch phrase that really, really grates on my freaking nerves.

I would have to say this year that catch phrase involves hearing ad nausea about how Brett Favre plays football with childlike “enthusiasm.” Yes, he sure blew a lot of games late in the year with “childlike enthusiasm” if you ask me! He sure looked like a wide-eyed, starry-eyed Happy-As-A-Lottery-Winning-Redneck watching his Jets implode at the end of the 2008 campaign!

Okay, but I can’t bust on him for that. It is not his fault the media portrays him as their forever young darling. Plus, I loved his cameo in There’s Something About Mary.

To throw in my five cents about the 2009 NFL playoffs, I am worried about seeing the Baltimore Ravens again if only because my beloved Steelers defeated them twice in the regular season. It is difficult to beat playoff caliber teams three times in one season. But, if the Ravens have to come to town, so be it. I am confident the Steelers will prevail. Tennessee and Pittsburgh will play for the AFC championship this year.

The Football Fan\'s Diet Field Goal BadgeNow, in the NFC I like the Eagles to make it to the Super Bowl. My predication is Eagles and Steelers this year. I am also predicting that the Colts will go down to the Chargers. Look for Arizona to surprise everyone this year too. They got too much experience at QB to lose to Falcons.

Oh, I should mentione that with “child-like” enthusiasm, I met my Game Day Objective yesterday and giving this brief prediction burned maybe 1 or 2 calories. However, today, I noticed the scale did not budge. In fact, it was slightly higher than yesterday. I am not making the scale a big part of this, but I will admit it is nice when you step on it and you get that statistical proof that your ass isn’t quite as fat as it was yesterday. I say that with childlike enthusiasm.
